Homelessness has become one of the benchmarks by which society measures the demarcation for failure and success. Yet, it can be a simple series of unplanned circumstances and decisions that can leave one on the street in a state of disbelief or regret. Whether the streets have been their home for a while or finding somewhere to rest their head is new, it's important that they hear us say, "You are not completely alone, and you are worthy of attention and help". To demonstrate this, backpacks are being put together with basic supplies they will need because just like us, they need daily essentials.
Each backpack will contain: 2 water bottles, a large Ziploc of assorted snacks, 1 short sleeve and long sleeve T-shirt, 1 pair of socks, lotion, sunscreen, deodorant, 1 blanket, 1 pair of gloves, 1 heavy-duty poncho, baby wipes, an emergency blanket, a baseball cap, chapstick, gum packets, bandaids, Neosporin, pain relief patches, 1 black trash bag, 5 masks, hand sanitizer, and a laminated handwritten card to weather all storms.
Often, we see the homeless and buy them food, give them water, and sometimes money, but there is an unspoken feeling that lingers because we know they need so much more. Let's let our act of kindness be the "more" that they need
Our nation's homeless have become road signs that point us in the other direction, but these are real people, not road signs. Their lives can be a welcoming destination for our kindness. A place to show love and grace.
Partner with us, to make this happen so that they can keep surviving out there; so that they can hang on for one more day.
All donations through my family's non-profit Legacy Consortium are tax-deductible, and 100% of the proceeds will go to creating backpacks for the homeless.
Who we are
"Backpacks for Change” is a part of Legacy Consortium, Inc, which is the non-profit arm of Legacy Changers World Wide, LLC. The Backpacks for Change project is focused on the homeless, giving them the essentials we all need, but that they can’t afford. These are essentials such as t-shirts, deodorant, band-aids, lotion, socks, jackets, chapstick, sunscreen, and many other basic necessities. Meet
OUR FOUNDER
Shannen-Rose Forde is the founder of Backpacks for Change, a non-profit project that assists the homeless by providing backpacks that contain basic supplies and daily essentials. Shannen-Rose is an Augusta University graduate with a B.A. In Kinesiology, and is pursuing her doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Shannen-Rose is also the founder of Lineup Athletics, which provides programs that train and instill confidence in young athletes as they advance in their skills and evolve into bold, poised, and fearless competitors. Through her company, Lineup Athletics, she provides skills coaching and strength training for young competitive gymnasts. In addition, her coaching incorporates work to strengthen their mental determination and improve overall mental health. Her holistic approach helps her athletes develop physical skills, self-awareness, self-love, and self-care. In her spare time, she shows her heart for the mental health community as a trained volunteer crisis counselor.

Terms and Conditions
Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the Legacy Consortium. The Legacy Consortium will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose, mission and projects of the Legacy Consortium. No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances, the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.
The Legacy Consortium will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts. Donors should seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.
The Legacy Consortium will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Legacy Consortium. Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Legacy Consortium.
The Legacy Consortium will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by Legacy Consortium.
The Legacy Consortium will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, the Legacy Consortium will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.
The Legacy Consortium will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to the Legacy Consortium.
